STELCO announces new housing project in Villimale’ Featuring 500 Housing Units

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO)’s managing director, Ahmed Shareef has announced a new housing project set to commence in Villimale’. This housing project is said to contain 500 housing units and is part of the 5-year strategic plan for Villimale’ by the Government of the Maldives.
 
He made the announcement while speaking to the company employees in a ceremony held to welcome the new chairman of the STELCO board, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Didi. During his speech, Ahmed Shareef remarked that STELCO pays the utmost attention to their employees and strives to provide them with a good environment.
 
He also stated that the housing project is now awaiting approval from the STELCO board and Villimale’ would provide a pleasant ambience for everyone to live. He also mentioned with the construction of the Male’-Villimale’ bridge, transportation would be eased between the two islands.
 
STELCO has also built a housing project in Hulhumale’ phase 2 for its employees. The housing project is separated into two towers and contains 72 one room apartments and 288 two room apartments adjoined with a maid room. The one room apartments are for MVR 5622 and the two-room apartments between MVR 10,356-10,652 inclusive of maintenance fee. The apartments will be handed over to the employees on August 6th onwards.
