Children’s Ombudsperson Office Launches Tollfree Number

On an official announcement made by the Children's Ombudsman’s Office in Maldives, in accordance to the second-year anniversary celebration of the office, a tollfree hotline has been launched. The hotline 1656 was launched in order to provide convenience to the public in reporting or for quick Q&A’s. The office will investigate the reports made in relevance to children related government's organizations and their staff. Complaints can also be submitted anonymously.

Protecting and promoting the rights guaranteed by the Child Rights Protection Act is the responsibility of COO. Additionally, the ombudsperson is in charge of ensuring that the pertinent state institutions adhere to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As a result, the ombudsperson is in charge of keeping an eye on and grading the personnel at the organizations tasked with defending the rights of children and conducting investigations into any violations.

To report a complaint please send an email to complaints@oco.mv or contact the newly launched hotline 1656. Furthermore, complaints will also be accepted via the website's 'Shakuvaa Hushahalhaa Form' or a letter to the office.
