“Government Aims to Provide Ample Opportunities for Maximizing Student Potential” Says President

On Tuesday, President Solih remarked that the government aims to provide as many opportunities to students in order to maximize their potential. He said this while speaking at President’s Scholarship and High Achiever’s Scholarship Awarding ceremony held at Ghiyashuddin School last Tuesday.
 
The president mentioned past recipients of the award and highlighted that many former students pursued careers in medicine. He praised them for their insight in choosing a path that would bring great welfare to the country in the long term.
 
Talking about the government’s initiative to implement affordable education the President noted that 14,711 students are enrolled in the government’s free first degree program and 4696 had already graduated under this scheme. He also discussed the government’s strategy to utilize technological and innovative solutions such as satellite schooling for small populations.
 
The President stated that secondary education has commenced in 7 new islands and higher secondary education was introduced in 3 new islands under his regime. He also expressed plans to establish TVET centers and junior colleges in 2 islands and similar plans to be conducted in other islands.
 
The President acknowledged the importance of education and skill development and noted the increase in training programs conducted by the government.
 
The President also presented the scholarship letters to all 6 recipients of the President’s Scholarship. 5 from Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and 1 from Jalaluddin School.
