WHO Announces Winners of ‘Our Planet, Our Health’ Competition that Took Place on April

According to the World Health Organization, environmental factors contribute to an estimated 13 million deaths worldwide each year. Included in this is the climate crisis, which poses the single greatest threat to human health. A health crisis is also caused by the climate crisis.

For World Health Day 2022 (7th April 2022), WHO will continue to draw attention to the urgent measures required to keep people and the planet healthy and support a movement to create societies that are focused on well-being in the face of a pandemic, a polluted planet, and rising diseases like cancer, asthma, and heart disease.

In order to give Maldivian youth a platform to express their voices and creativity through visual arts and creative writing as part of the yearlong celebrations, WHO collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education Maldives to hold a National Recycled Art Competition and a Short Story Writing Competition themed "Our Planet, Our Health" from April 25 to May 30, 2022.

The competitions also aimed to develop future generations into agents of change by promoting the significance of green initiatives, environmental protection, and sustainable living for better health.
