HDC Is Searching For Innovative MSMEs To Compete At Its ‘Eejaadhee Mansa’ Competition

In the recent years, Maldives has seen an increase in local investments in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) due to the increase in opportunities to engage in such businesses. As per the Rapid Livelihood Assessment studying the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic in the country conducted by UNDP Maldives and the Ministry of Economic Development, MSMEs are particularly at risk as the crisis continues to impact the economic livelihoods across the country.

As a result, Housing Development Coporation is organizing a competition based event with the aim of engaging and providing the opportunity and financial means to such individuals and businesses for the physical set up and commencement of businesses operations in Hulhumale’ City. They will be utilizing their upcoming commercial units in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 for this purpose. MSMES, entrepreneurs and start-up businesses are guided to come up with business ideas, products or services that could complement Hulhumalé as a city and the greater community as part of the competition.

The competition was inaugurated during a ceremony held on 19th November.
