Covid-19 is Rising Again Ahead of Eid Holidays, Let’s Take Precautions!

According to data from the Health Protection Agency (HPA), COVID-19 cases have risen over the past week, and many of the cases involved hospitalizations. 405 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous week, according to HPA statistics.
 
There are 231 people from the Greater Male' Region, 95 people from the atolls, and 79 people from other areas. In the past week, 17 people in total were admitted to hospitals, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives to 180,384. Additionally, one death was reported in the previous week, bringing the overall COVID-19 death toll to 300.
 
Doctors have also expressed concern regarding COVID-19 positive hospital patients. Dr. Mohamed Ali, a physician at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), stated in a tweet that admitted cases are testing positive for COVID-19, indicating a significant number of COVID-19 cases in the general population.
 
Dr also advised those who visit hospitalized patients to exercise caution and make an effort to limit their visits. In order to decrease the risk of contracting COVID-19, particularly during the upcoming holidays, HPA has also recommended that people wear masks outside and practice good hygiene.
