SriLankan Airline is the flag carrier of Sri Lanka. Another title they have attained this year is the being crowned as Asia’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean at the PATA Gold Awards.

After travel restrictions to Maldives was lifted, the airline recommenced its operations to the country not long after. At present, they operate seven flights per week from Colombo. Apart from Maldives, the airline expanded its global network to other regions as well, especially European countries within the past few months.

This time, they are ready to become the middleman between Maldives and London. Starting from 12th December, SirLankan Airlines will be operating direct flights between Maldives and London. In this regard, two flights will be scheduled per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flights are set to depart Heathrow at 7:30 PM, arriving in Male’ at 10:50 AM the following day. Return flights will depart Male’ at 11:40 AM, arriving in Heathrow at 6:00 PM.

The decision by SriLankan Airlines is taken in light of the expectations of increase in tourist arrivals to Maldives for the winter season. United Kingdom is the second top tourist market for Maldives since the border reopening. Apart from this, as we have been added to their tentative Global Travel Advisory list on 25th October, those arriving to the UK from Maldives will not have to undergo a mandatory quarantine period, giving more reason to choose Maldives as your winter holiday destination!
