Conveniently Pay for Your Tickets with Raajje’ Transport Link App or Website

Passengers can now book tickets for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service online, according to the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The planning ministry sent out a tweet with a link to a portal where people can download mobile apps to book tickets, which are available on the App Store and Google Play.

A video on how to book tickets was also posted by the ministry. The cost of a one-way ticket is between MVR 30 to 93, while the cost of a return ticket is between MVR 62 to 205. Furthermore, the ministry stated that people with special needs, as well as children under the age of three, will be able to travel for free on RTL ferries if they sit on the passenger's lap.

Raajje Transport Link (RTL) is a government of Maldives initiative to connect the islands, atolls, and people of the Maldives under the auspices of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network (INPFN) project. RTL was announced in 2021 and was conceived to be delivered to the public in three phases by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Plc. It was spearheaded by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

Phase One: Within Zone One, connect the islands of Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani. Phase Two: linking the atolls of Noonu, Raa, Baa, and Lhaviyani in Zone Two, the atolls of Gaafu Alif and Gaafu Dhaalu in Zone Five, and the cities of Fuvahmulah and Addu in Zone Six. Phase Three will connect the atolls of Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, and Vaavu in Zone Three with the atolls of Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa, and Laamu in Zone Four.

The RTL Fleet is made up of custom-built, high-speed vessels that provide year-round scheduled ferry service on all of their routes. The ferry is designed to ensure that everyone can travel comfortably, safely, and on time. Each vessel has 48 reclinable airline style seats, designated seating for wheelchair passengers, and a secure mechanism for medical stretchers.

The RTL routes are served by four ferries with a total capacity of 560 passengers. The ferries are air-conditioned and have USB charging ports for mobile phones. Passengers on the RTL will be allowed to bring one piece of luggage and one piece of carry-on luggage.
