On Tuesday, First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended the closing ceremony of the "Power to Persuade: Leadership and Advocacy Training for Women with Disabilities" program's Training of Trainers workshop. It was organized by Care Society, a local NGO, in collaboration with US Aid.
The Power to Persuade program aims to train 100 disabled women to advocate for their rights and participate in the country's development and democratic process. The training for trainers’ workshop was the first of its kind in the Maldives, and it was led by people with disabilities.
Participants came from the Haa Dhaalu, Kaafu, and Laamu Atolls, as well as Addu City, with two representatives from each atoll. The workshop's participants would be assigned to train 100 women with disabilities in these four regions.
