Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) – one of the largest companies in the country – has made it to the news once again with the completion of one of their on-going projects, the successful completion of the Harbor Development Project of K.Girifushi Island.
Project that was worth MVR 18.3 Million had a scope of works that included the construction of a 268m breakwater and a 46m channel breakwater. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was also conducted in which the process was completed with the involvement of all the stakeholders involved. Therefore, the EIA was conducted efficiently. With the completion of EIA, all mitigating factors was taken into consideration and the project was implemented with the engineering solutions.
MTCC has successfully completed numerous harbor development projects throughout the Maldives over the last 41 years. To meet the unique environmental and logistical challenges of carrying out harbor development projects in the Maldives' dispersed islands, the company developed their own mobilization techniques and operational procedures. MTCC has successfully gained nationwide trust and recognition for their capacity and expertise in this area as an important partner in nation building.
