Russian Tourist Market to Maldives Expected Boom Further With Azur Air Commencing Operations

The tropical island of Maldives is a common holiday destination amongst Russians. In this regard, if you take a look at the statistics, it will show that Russia consistently remains as the top tourist market to the Maldives. Although the year of 2020 was about major changes, this is one thing that still remains the same. As of 11th November, we have counted the arrivals of 11,240 Russian tourists into the country since the border re-opening in July, and also, yet again taking the first place.

Hence, it was good news to both Maldivians and Russian when the Russian charter airline, Azur Air, had announced their intentions to operate flights between Moscow and Maldives. Azur Air reports that flights are scheduled to commence from 28th November onwards and will continue for the entire winter season. They will be utilizing their Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for the operations and will be flying once a week to Maldives.
