Ooredoo Begins Trial For International Money Transfer via m-Faisaa

Trial runs of Ooredoo Maldives' International Money Transfer service via m-Faisaa have officially begun, according to the press released by the aspiring company. The central bank of the Maldives, the Maldives Monetary Authority, awarded Ooredoo Maldives the license to provide payment services required for remittance service earlier this year under the new National Payment System Act.

Ooredoo Maldives has been working on connecting their systems with their foreign partners and doing numerous system tests since receiving the license. The launch of their trial phase is a step toward achieving a significant milestone by offering international money transfer services to Ooredoo’s m-Faisaa consumers, broadening the scope of mobile money.

Customers of m-Faisaa will be able to send money to relatives and friends all over the world once the service is officially launched in the coming months. Customers can send money in Maldivian Rufiyya to their accounts or digital wallets in USD or the recipient's local currency in real-time.

“Today we have reached an important point in our journey to achieve another great milestone. Our aim is to broaden the horizons for our customers through digital solutions. The official launch of international money transfer via m-Faisaa will enable customers to send money across the world from anywhere, anytime, expanding the financial opportunities of the people across the nation." Ooredoo Maldives Chief Commercial Officer, Hussain Niyaz expressed his hopes on the course.
