Adam Azim Officially Commences Th.Hirilandhoo Project

With an eventful ceremony held on May 26th, Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially marked the physical work commencement of Th.Hirilandhoo Land Reclamation Project. Gracing the ceremony was the CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim and Kinbidhoo Member of Parliament, Mohamed Nashiz.
 
The Hirilandhoo land reclamation project was awarded to MTCC at the end of 2020. The project that will be finished in 18 months at a cost of USD6.79 million has a scope of work that includes dredging and reclamation of 25ha, construction of rock boulder revetment of 1,080m, and the construction of 80m groyne.


 
The expanding population on small islands faces a land shortage. Hirilandhoo is a has a population of around 1,200 people. Hirilandhoo, in comparison to other atoll islands, engages in considerable industrial work such as fish processing and fiber production. Hence, with this new development in place, MTCC hopes that such issues will be resolved.
