A signing ceremony took place yesterday where Maldives Transport & Contracting Company signed with Housing Development Corporation to develop and operate a Bus Depot in Hulhumale’ city. For the ceremony, the Managing Director from Housing Development Corporation, Suhail Ahmed signed on behalf of the corporation whilst the Chief Operating Officer from Maldives Transport & Contracting Company, Shahid Hussein signed on behalf of the company.
As of now, the buses are being parked at the Bus Station located in Hulhumale’ Ring Road, however with the new Bus Depot in place, the buses will have a designated area for parking. MTCC had recently announced their new arrivals of buses which will be used for operations mainly for Hulhumale’ phase 2.
The new buses will set off for operations at a time that transportation of bus services are in high demand from the residents of phase 2, as the area is marked as the upcoming new city that will surpass as the future hub of Hulhumale’. As of now, more than 10,000 people reside in Hiya Flats, and more are still to come. Highlighting the importance of the new buses that had arrived, the CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim commented that with the addition of new busses, a permanent solution will be provides to the residents of phase 2.
