Maldives Immigration Releases New Changes And Updates

Effective from May 31st, 2022, Maldives Immigration has released a few changes brought for visa applications and visa extensions, except for work visas and business visas. The following documents will now be required;

1.   A medical report issued from a hospital / clinic, approved by the Ministry of Health.
2.   Expatriate health insurance policy issued by a local insurer.

As a result, these documents must accompany Marriage Visa, Dependent Visa, and Student Visa applications as informed by the Maldives Immigration. Though all of the above-mentioned visa categories (Marriage Visa, Dependent Visa, and Student Visa) require health insurance, take note of the following medical report requirements.

Marriage Visa: Only when filing for a fresh marriage visa is a medical report required. Extensions do not require it.

Dependent Visa: For new applications and extensions, a medical report is required.

Student Visa: For children under the age of five, a doctor's certificate verifying the applicant's health will suffice. Otherwise, for new applications and extensions, a medical report is required.

Furthermore, Tourist Visa extensions and Sponsorship Declaration applications do not require the aforementioned documentation.
