Maldives Represented At The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2022

Maldives takes part in the 7th session of Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2022 held at Bali, Indonesia. Carried out from 23rd to 28th May, representing Maldives is the Deputy Chief Executive at National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Umar Moosa Fikry and the Director of Planning & Policy, Kashif Naseer.


 
The UN General Assembly acknowledges the Worldwide Platform as the global multi-stakeholder platform for reviewing progress on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction implementation. At the Platform, governments, the UN system, and all stakeholders share expertise and discuss the latest advancements and trends in disaster risk reduction, identify gaps, and make proposals to speed the Sendai Framework's implementation.
 
The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) will organize and convene the seventh session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, which will be hosted by the Government of Indonesia.


 
At the GPDRR2022, team Maldives is set to meet key stakeholders and Disaster Risk Reduction officials from other countries where NDMA executives will discuss current collaborations and possible future ventures that could be explored together, beneficial for both countries.
