WD Maldives Collaborates With Queen’s Commonwealth Trust

Women & Democracy is one of the leading non-profit organizations in Maldives where they work towards women’s economic & political participation as well as good governance in the country. Founded in 2016, the organization continues to raise awareness and advocate women’s empowerment in the political sector as well as undertake projects that creates meaningful impacts on the Maldivian community. Furthermore, the organization also conducts research on vulnerable populations and on women’s state in all aspects of life to recommend policy reforms.
 
Quite recently, the inspiring NGO has released an announcement that states their collaboration with Queen Elizabeth’s Commonwealth Trust – a trust that supports and empowers young leaders across the globe that is making a notable impact on their communities, on the occasion of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II ‘s Platinum Jubilee on her reign.


 
With the impressive collaboration, WD will continue their support helpline services to women and girls experiencing domestic and sexual abuse. The confidential telephone line provides crisis counselling, psycho-social support, safety planning along with many other services. Apart from the helpline, WD hopes to establish further services including legal and psycho-social counselling.
