Monkeypox – Risk Of An Outbreak Is Low In Maldives

In an announcement released by Health Protection Agency of Maldives (HPA) regarding Monekypox, the new virus that has been spotted among many countries across the globe, has informed the citizens of the risk of an outbreak in Maldives for it is low compared to other countries.

The HPA's announcement comes at a time when multiple nations have reported confirmed cases of monkeypox. The organization stated in a statement that no cases of monkeypox had been detected in the Maldives or any of the bordering countries as of May 21st. It went on to say that because the disease spreads through extended contact with an infected individual, the likelihood of an epidemic in the Maldives is low.

The agency did, however, recognize the likelihood of the disease being identified in the Maldives and advised taking preventive measures. As a result, frequent hand washing and the use of masks to prevent monkeypox, as well as avoiding close contact with others if any signs are evident are urged.

They stated that symptoms such as fever, headaches, and rashes that evolve into blisters should be treated as soon as possible. The FDA also stated that they are monitoring the disease's spread and assessing the risks, as is typical for such rare occurrences. As a result, they are telling health authorities about the ailment, arranging for treatments and testing, and drafting a standard operating procedure for it.

Stay safe everyone!
