As most other travel and trade fairs which took place this year, International Maldives Travel Market 2020 (IMTM 2020) was held virtually as well. It is a business-to-business (B2B) international travel and trade fair that has been annually held since 2018.
As connoted by this year’s theme for the fair – “Reconnect, Revive and Grow”- it will act as a platform which will allow local resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards, dive centers, tour operators and travel agents to showcase themselves for the international market in order to establish meaningful alliances to work jointly towards the recovery of the businesses impacted by the pandemic. In this regard, they had the chance to identify the challenges, solutions, and explore the opportunities to overcome the pandemic, for better and sustainable growth through this fair.
To no surprise, one of the participants of the fair is the government mandated body marketing Maldives as a holiday destination; Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
The two-day fair kicked off yesterday and is set to conclude today. IMTM Private Limited is the proud host of this fair. Its foundational aim is to gradually reopen the travel, tourism and hospitality sector to new markets.
MMPRC is set to lead national efforts in uniting all tourism stakeholders during the next year for the purpose of achieving pre-pandemic tourist arrival numbers.
