Here’s A Few Updates On The Latest Courtesy Calls

Newly appointed ambassador from Arab Republic of Egypt, the non-resident High Commissioner of South Africa and Ambassador of Indonesia presents their credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and makes a courtesy call to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel.


 
The non-resident Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, Maged Mosleh met with President Solih upon presenting his credence. Both parties discussed many important topics including, increasing scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students in various fields, upcoming Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Change Conference in November 2022 and its significance to the Maldives, bilateral interests in regional and international affairs and spoke about exploring avenues of future collaboration, especially in health, energy, and information technology.
 
Furthermore, Maged Mosleh also made a courtesy call to State Minister Ahmed Khaleel where both parties discussed confidence that the Maldives and Egypt would continue to further reinforce the strong bonds of solidarity and mutual cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Ambassador Nafei assured of his eagerness and commitment to work with the Government of the Maldives and reflected on his plans to deepen cooperation between the two countries, during his tenure.


 
The non-resident High Commissioner of Republic of South Africa to Maldives, Sandile Edwin Schalk met with President Solih upon presenting his credence. Both parties discussed many important topics including, establishing a Maldives High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa and improving tourism, infrastructure development, and enhancing collaboration in the international fora.
 
Furthermore, Sandile Edwin Schalk also made a courtesy call to State Minister Ahmed Khaleel where both parties discussed further consolidating bilateral ties and intensifying collaboration and exchanges between the two countries. High Commissioner Schalk assured of his commitment to working closely with the Government of Maldives with a renewed focus in areas of mutual interest including tourism, trade and education.


 
The New Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Maldives, Dewi Gustina Tobing met with President Solih upon presenting her credence. Both parties discussed many important topics including, ‘Free Education Scheme for Degree Students’ and inquired about ways of increasing scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students to pursue higher education in Indonesian institutions, increasing tourism between the two countries, with the President inquiring with the Ambassador about easing visa facilitation for Maldivian travelers.
 
Furthermore, Deqi Gustina Tobing also made a courtesy call to State Minister Ahmed Khaleel where both parties discussed on improving cooperation between both the countries on potential areas, mainly technical cooperation, capacity building, maritime issues, fisheries, connectivity and trade.
