The concept of a ‘travel bubble’ is fairly new to the world as it only came to existence this year as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The idea behind it is an exclusive partnership establishing between two countries demonstrating significant success in containing and combining the deadly virus within their respective borders. Under this partnership, the countries will allow citizens from each of them to travel freely between the countries without the requirement of a quarantine or a self-isolation period.
Maldives and the State of Qatar has established this link between the two of them through the flag carrier of Qatar, Qatar Airways. The airline introduced this link as a new travel package. Maldives is the first holiday destination to facilitate such an arrangement.
The ‘bubble’ is compacted to Qatar nationals and Qatari based residents travelling with the Qatar Airways. Accordingly, they can experience a hassle free holiday by eliminating the process of a quarantine or self-isolation upon returning home following a visit to the Maldives
Bookings under this package can be made up until 24th December whereas the travel time has been allocated from 1st December to 7th January. However, your stay in Maldives must exceed 5 days for the package to be of effect. Two luxurious resorts have been specially reserved to those arriving by the ‘travel bubble’ being; Sandies Bathala Resort and Diamonds Thundufushi Resort.
