Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure contracts Maldives Transport & Contracting Company to build and install platforms in 6 islands of zone 1 of National Public Ferry Network. At the signing ceremony, the CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim signed on behalf of the company whilst the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Zeeniya Hameed signed on behalf of the Ministry.
The project that is worth over MVR 5 Million has a scope of works that include building of platform for easy access to ferries, installation of mooring bollards along with the reconstruction of pavement in harbor. The islands encompassed in zone 1 include Ha.Hoarafushi, Ha.Dhidhdhoo, Ha.Kelaa, Hdh.Kulhudhuffushi, Hdh.Hanimaadhoo and Hdh.Nolhivaranfaru.
The National Public Ferry Network is an ambitious project which is in line with the Decentralization Act, which will introduce affordable, convenient and sustainable passenger and cargo ferry services to all administrative divisions and the communities across Maldives.
