The new terminal was built in place as part of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network Project for Zone 01, well initiated and to be carried out by MTCC themselves.
To provide the best services for the citizens, the newly built terminal will include amenities such as a commercial area, parent room, luggage storage, tuck shop, and separate male / female toilets.
The Integrated National Public Ferry Network Project is an ambitious project which is in line with the Decentralization Act, which will introduce affordable, convenient and sustainable passenger and cargo ferry services to all administrative divisions of Maldives. MTCC continues to come up with innovative ways, making the communities lives better with every project.
For the operations of this ferry service, MTCC has planned to utilize speedboats that are of 47 feet large and can carry 40 to 50 people. Accordingly, 17 speedboats will be utilized in total; 14 in operation and 3 in back up, which are air-conditioned and easily accessible to disabled or sick persons. These boats will have a restroom and also an area to store luggage of passengers.
