Calling out to all the citizens to come and join the Blood Donation Camp held by Maldivian Red Crescent in celebration of World Red Cross Red Crescent Day and World Thalassemia Day. The camp that will be held on May 8th, Sunday is in association with Road Development Corporation and Maldives Blood Services.

The event that is said to be carried out from 8:30pm to 11pm will be held at the Thalassemia Center in Majeedhee Magu, Male’. It goes without saying that not all heroes wear capes as a single donation could help save up to three lives as per the research done by the American Red Cross.

As the demand for blood increases by the day, it is also important to understand as to why this will always be an important and an on-going issue. Since blood cannot be manufactured, it has to come from donations in order to keep the supply going. One in every seven patients that come in to hospitals require blood for their treatments which is why its so important to donate blood whenever its possible.

Maldives Red Crescent has urged people who would like to donate to register via https://bit.ly/3P1jima before-hand in order to carry out the camp as smoothly as possible. Some tips to keep in mind before donating would be to have a light meal ahead of time and to drink plenty of fluids to keep you well hydrated.
