WAMCO Has been Assigned to Clean Public Areas in Hulhumale'

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has contracted Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) to clean the public areas of Hulhumale. This is to ensure the cleanliness of public spaces in Hulhumale’ and the separation of waste materials collected from the suburb in a more permanent manner.

There was a special signing ceremony held by HDC. WAMCO’s Deputy Managing Director Yoosuf Siraj and HDC’s Managing Director Suhail Ahmed signed the agreement. This agreement will be in effect for three years.

The agreement details that WAMCO will be tasked with cleaning the roads opened for public use at Hulhumale’ along with the pavements and trees planted on them as well as parks and beach areas.

As highlighted by HDC, some matters that residents of Hulhumale should be paying attention to are:

  • Registration for waste collection with WAMCO by households that are yet to be registered
  • Registration for waste collection with WAMCO by cafés, hotels, and other businesses
  • Opting for WMACO’s Call and Pickup Service (CAPS) for heavy waste
  • Immediate cessation of placing waste bags on roads due to not being registered for waste collection


HDC also emphasized the importance of the cooperation of the citizens in such matters and has urged them to carry out their duties to society to ensure the cleanliness of the suburbs.

To make sure this agreement is upheld, WAMCO has announced that they are now looking for cleaners to clean Hulhumale public areas.
