Similar to MTCC and HDC, two more State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Economic Development to allow for people whose jobs were affected by the Covid19 pandemic to be apprentices in the company in order to gain more skills.
These MOUs were signed with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Fenaka Corporation Limited. MACL will train assistant technicians in electrical, welding, refrigeration, air-conditioning, and other similar fields. Meanwhile, Fenaka will conduct pieces of training in water and sewerage operations, electrical installation, and maintenance.
The agreements are part of the COVID-19 Emergency Income Support Project, which aims to facilitate the recovery of individuals who lost their jobs or income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The economic ministry said the apprenticeship programs will help to increase employability by providing on-the-job training to individuals impacted by the pandemic.
