Did You Know That Jet Operations By Maldivian Aero Commenced 8 Years Ago, Today?

Maldivian Aero is the flag carrier of Maldives and is considered as the leading domestic carrier in the country. The airline began its journey with a small fleet, flying only domestically. Currently. the airline operates both domestically and internationally. Today, the airline is more than thrilled to mark 8 years since beginning jet operations.

The airline first commenced jet operations on 15th November 2012 with its Airbus A320 limited to the destinations; Chennai and Dhaka. This step was take in light of expanding their services internationally. The airbus A320 had a capacity of 152 seats; 14 in business class and 132 in economy class. Since then, the airline has added another jet for its international operations, this time an Airbus A321. The new addition accommodates 200 seats; 6 in business class and 194 in economy class. As a result, their international network has expanded to India, Bangladesh, Thailand and China. Their plans to add to additional jets to its fleet, 2 of Airbus A330s, was announced at the end of last year. Hence, it is expected that with the new addition the airline is likely to further expand its international network, however, a delivery date has not yet been confirmed.

Apart from international operations, the airline carries out daily domestic flights to all the airports existing in the country as well as seaplane operations. Maldivian Aero is the only one in the country which offers both seaplane and wheel-based flights.
