H.E. Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives handed over a minibus with a value of USD 48,500 to Fiyavathi under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project.
The minibus is donated in line with the Grant Contract signed between Ms.Yanai Keiko, former Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, and Ms. Zeena Gasim, Chief Executive Officer of Fiyavathi in October 24, 2019. The main objective of this donation is to ensure that children in Fiyavathi have access to quality education and health facilities in a much safer and more comfortable condition. The minibus is a brand new Japanese-made Toyota HiAce Commuter with a capacity of a maximum of 14 seats.
The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation, and energy in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
