After a temporary halt on the renowned tourism industry of the Maldives due to the coronavirus global pandemic, tourism activities resumed on 15th July. At present, the country has lifted all travel restriction where as we have hold a ‘Safe Travek Stamp’ issued by the World Travel and Tourism Council boosting tourism activities to a level we have not dreamed that we would achieve this year. This is very clearly indicated by the latest weekly update the Ministry of Tourism has published this Thursday comprising of detailed statistics up until 12th November.

As of 11th November, a total of 51,354 tourists have arrived to the country. That makes a grand total of 434,201 tourists since the start of this year. Not to our surprise and as usual, Russia remains as the top market for the country with over 11,240 arrivals from the nation since the border re-opening. At present, 15 international airlines operate to the Maldives whereas by the end of this year it is expected that 25 international airlines will resume operations. 331 tourist facilities are currently in operation being; 123 resorts, 87 hotels and guesthouses in addition to 121 safari vessels.
