“Eh Gein Aneh Geyah” Campaign By HDC

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) announced that they have started a special campaign to mark the occasion of World Recycling Day. This campaign is centered around the basis that Maldivians give away their unwanted household items and furniture instead of throwing them out. It is fittingly named "Eh Gein Aneh Geyah”, which translates to "From one house to the next."

Maldivians who are able to, have a tendency to replace household items such as furniture and appliances when it is time for Ramadam. Hence, to reduce as much waste as possible during this time, HDC will be holding an event from March 24 to 26 for residents in Hulhumale’ to bring their items and furniture. They will be accepting electronic items, furniture, as well as kitchen and other household appliances during the campaign. However, food or items with an expiry date will not be accepted and any type of business transaction has been banned from the event.

This campaign aims to promote the habit of reusing or giving away items that can still be used for a good period of time which will allow individuals to receive much-needed items for their households.
