Trans Maldivian Airways Defends Its Title As The Leading Seaplane Operator In The Indian Ocean

World Travel Awards have been consistently held since 1993 for recognizing, rewarding and celebrating excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. At present, the brand itself is recognized worldwide as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. Each year, World Travel Awards covers the globe with its Grand Tour – a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognize excellence within each continent, and following this, competing head-on in the corresponding world categories.

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) is the leading seaplane operator in Maldives and possesses the world’s largest seaplane fleet; a total of 57 aircrafts flying over 1,000,000 passengers per year. The seaplane operator was nominated and had won the award as the “Indian Ocean's Leading Seaplane Operator 2020” at the World Travel Awards held this year. They competed with Global Seaplanes and Kerala Seaplane for the title. The seaplane operator has won the same award 6 times prior to this year.

With the regional win, TMA will be competing worldwide for the title “World's Leading Seaplane Operator”. They have achieved the same title on 5 occasions before.

TMA recommenced their operations as soon as tourism activities resumed in Maldives whereas they have enhanced safety measures ranging from putting its aircrafts through a complete disinfection process upon returning to its base, minimizing direct contact between passengers and the crew in addition to providing a PPE kit for each passenger.
