While yes it is true that there are no longer staggering amounts of cases each day, the Maldives has still not fully recovered from the pandemic.
Yesterday, it was announced by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), that there were 172 additional cases of COVID-19, which increased confirmed cases in the Maldives to 174,163.
The new cases include 34 cases from the greater Male’ region, 119 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 cases from operational resorts.
At the same time, 234 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 159,621.
1,548 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 376 samples from the greater Male' region.
The vaccinations in the Maldives began last year and currently, even children between the ages of 12 and 17 are able to get their doses.
As per the latest statistics, 371,410 people have been fully vaccinated, and 142,237 have received their booster dose.
