A total of three aircraft will be added to the Maldivian Aviation Academy's roster this month.
Island Aviation Services (IAS) is a partner of the Academy and speaking on behalf of them, Deputy Managing Director, Aishath Jennifer stated that every effort is being made to bring the aircraft to the Maldives. If all goes well, all three would have arrived by March 29.
"As war is ingoing, rapid changes are coming to global air and sea travel. If no issues arise due to this, the aircraft will arrive on schedule," she said.
The first of the three aircraft arrived this Tuesday. The other two are used aircraft that were purchased on the 10th of January from the old flying academy in Addu City, Academy of Aeronautics (AAA).
The Maldives Aviation Academy is an institute operated by a partnership between IAS, The Maldives National Univerity (MNU), and Czechs Flying Academy. The academy began classes officially on January 10 this year. The first batch of its refresher course included 35 students. The academy gave precedence to students who were enrolled at AAA, whose studies were interrupted.
The refresher program includes 150 hours of theory classes and ten hours of flying. Theory classes are carried out from Monday to Thursday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Theory classes are held at the MNU Campus in Addu City, while flying will be carried out at Gan International Airport. The flying component of the course will begin on April 15.
