The Community Eco Park was developed in HA. Molhadhoo was officially opened to the public. It was funded under BML’s Community Fund initiative. This was a project that focused on creating awareness of the natural beauty of the island and encouraging people to go witness it themselves, all the while preserving it for generations to come.
It was designed with a viewing platform and is equipped with solar lighting, benches and seating area with waste bins to create an area which is relaxing and environmentally sustainable.
Commenting on the project, the local NGO Chill Bros, stated “This is a special project carried out to strengthen local tourism in the island and create a way for visitors to experience the natural beauty of the island. We hope this space is beneficial for everyone in our community and beyond”.
The Community Fund is an initiative of BML to empower individuals to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects. The Fund supports projects in the thematic areas of education, environment, sports and community development. The Bank is currently evaluating the proposals received for the first quarter of this year.
