For the first time in history, thirty-two Maldivian students have completed a junior astronaut program in the Maldives.
They completed the Canadian Space Agency's Junior Astronaut Program held by the Institute for Global Success (IGS) which was held Male' city and Kulhudhuffushi of Haa Dhaalu atoll.
They were given their certifications on the 5th of March at a special ceremony held at Stelco's event hall.
The program consisted of how to maintain one's health through the proper fitness and diet whilst in space, science, and technology in space, and allowed the cadets to learn the teamwork required for space travel.
IGS has mentioned that they will be providing the student who completed the program with the rare opportunity to train further at NASA in the coming year.
IGS is working towards promoting the science of space in the Maldives. They were the ones to initiate the Maldives Space Program and they are currently working towards the launch of the first satellite prototype in the Maldives.
