Positivity Rates Will Be Shown to the Public Once a Week

So as to confirm locations of positive cases since daily updates every night do not give them enough time to do so, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has made the decision to disclose statistics on Thursday nights only from now on.

They mentioned that by the time daily data is published every night, there are several cases whose location is not yet confirmed, that end up affecting the positivity rate estimations.

“Weekly date will be more accurate than daily date. The weekly data published every Thursday night will be from Wednesday of the preceding week to the Tuesday of the week,” an official of HPA says.

They went on to detail that HPA had already started weekly data monitoring from April 15, 2020; the date the first case of community transmission of COVID-19 in the Maldives was detected.
