As per the new guidelines which will be enforced by the Maldives Customs Service, exporters will now have to include the details of each type of fish when lodging Export Declaration and invoices to export Live Fish.
This new guideline was introduced to reduce the difficulties in tallying export statistics, as exporters previously had submitted everything in one document, rather than submitting separately, says Customs.
It will take effect from March 15th onwards. Then on, live fish can only be exported after submitting documents stating each type's general information, size, scientific name, and price.
They have also set new conditions which allow for deferred payment of Import Duty when it comes to perishable goods.
