BML Customers Will No Longer Need To Carry Cash To Pay For Their Taxi Rides

Bank of Maldives Plc (BML) gives utmost importance to utilize the most updated technology in providing their services. One of such example is their MobilePay segment which acts as a digital wallet through a mobile application which is free to download on both Google Play Store and App Store. Yesterday, the Bank has extended their digital wallet to taxi services. Customers can now experience contactless payments during their taxi rides. Taxi drivers must register for the service and must use the Bank’s mPOS solution to facilitate cashless payment. Customers are instructed to scan the QR code on the driver’s mobile device or displayed in the taxi using BML MobilePay to make the payments. Bank of Maldives plc will be providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) packs consisting of hand sanitizers and face masks to every taxi which registers to the cashless payment service.

The new service was launched in a small ceremony held at the bank yesterday by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ms. Aishath Nahula. She was joined by the Bank’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Tim Sawyer during the ceremony where they jointly handed over PPE packs to taxi drivers registered at inception.
