One can achieve the highest of results in their studies yet struggle to tackle the challenges faced at a work environment. Thus, it is vital to build a capable set of workers with the understanding of the importance of being eager learners capable of taking calculated risks and face challenges instilled onto them. To reach the best results, the process must begin from a young age.
For this exact purpose, a special program for the Maldivian youth was launched earlier this year in July; ‘Skills for a Resilient Workforce’. This is an initiative of the government which is set to be conducted for a period of one year. The program will facilitate training for 1200 youths; 600 from the tourism industry, 200 from the information and communications technology industry and 400 from tourism related construction works.

Whilst 59 trainees enrolled in the tourism industry category of the program has completed the theory component, the organizers of the program have confirmed partnerships with leading businesses engaged in this sector for the provision of meaningful internship opportunities for its trainees. Confirmed partners as of now includes of LUX* South Ari Atoll, Adaaran Maldives, Heritence Aarah Maldives, Sun Siyam Resorts and Buruzu Catering.
Discussions are presently ongoing with additional organizations for the same purpose, inclusive of information and communications technology industry and tourism related construction works.
