High Commission of Great Britain Officially Open in Sunny Maldives!

The first-ever British High Commission has been opened in the Maldives.

Attended by State Minister Ahmed Khaleel, the opening ceremony was held last Tuesday.  UK Minister of State for South and Central Asia, the UN, and the Commonwealth Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon also attended the ceremony.

Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid welcomed the United Kingdom for being the first European country to officially open a mission in the Maldives through a special video statement, as he was out o the country at the time.

In the video, he also stressed that the decision to establish the diplomatic mission reflects the mutual desire to further strengthen UK-Maldives relations.
