Under the Memorandum of Understand (MoU) which was signed between the State Trading Organization (STO) and the Ministry of Health, the third batch of ambulances that were promised arrived on 8 February 2022.

On their Twitter, STO revealed that they aim to dispatch the ambulances to their respective islands as soon as possible.

The MoU was signed by both parties during June 2021, mutually agreeing to bring 96 ambulances to send to outlying atolls. This was to strengthen the healthcare system and bring a solution to the major issues that island residents face.

As of right now, 41 ambulances have been brought and transferred to atolls, twice round.

During his Presidential Address this year, President Solih said that the government is working to transfer the remaining ambulances to outlying atolls by the end of March.

The first shipment, comprising of 20 ambulances, was brought to the Maldives in October 2021. This was followed by another batch of 20 ambulances, brought during December.
