The PRE-AFEX sensitization session was held on the 2nd of February at Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) for Heads of Departments (HoDs) and key response agencies who will be participating in the upcoming Airport Full-Scale Emergency Exercise (AFEX), which is to be held on March 16th, 2022.
The session went on to explore the international and national framework which would be required for airport emergency planning, multi-agency response actions and also looked into the potential role of the National Disaster Management Authority in Maldives (NDMAmv) in major transportation accidents. To help stimulate the AFEX 22, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has partnered with Emirates Airlines.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was established by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as per the Disaster Management Act (28/2015). With this, all staff, assets, ongoing work, etc. of NDMC has been transferred to NDMA. Currently, NDMA is carrying out a more holistic model when it comes to its operations.
