New High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives Pays a visit to Minister of Foreign Affairs.

High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Adam Maznavee Jaufer Sadiq paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, on the 1st of February, 2022.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Shahid congratulated the High Commissioner on presenting his credentials and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will be further reinvigorated during his tenure.

Foreign Minister Shahid stated that as a close and historical partner, the Maldives attaches great importance to its relations with Sri Lanka and appreciates the past and continued assistance provided by Sri Lanka towards the socio-economic development of Maldives. Foreign Minister further thanked the Government of Sri Lanka for the hospitality accorded to the large number of Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka.

Foreign Minister and High Commissioner also discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly relations with particular focus given to enhancing cooperation in trade, health, and education sectors.

High Commissioner Sadiq thanked the Minister for the warm welcome and then conveyed his strong commitment to working closely with the Government and people of the Maldives to further enhance the existing bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Joint Secretary, Khadeeja Najeeha at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
