Maldives Receives 210,600 Doses of Pfizer.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) thanked the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the government of the United States for their generous donation of 210,600 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccines will “bolster our efforts to provide booster shots for all Maldivian and assist in our vaccination efforts,” Says Minister Shahid in his tweet about the donation. UNICEF Maldives also says something similar along those lines in their tweet about the donation.

Including this donation, according to the American Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Maldives, the US has donated 440,000 doses to the Maldives.

In addition to vaccines, America has donated emergency equipment worth USD7 million, training programs, 60 ventilators, and 100,000 rapid diagnostic tests.

Furthermore, the American government has assisted in programs to create awareness regarding COVID, and how to rejuvenate the Maldivian economy.
