F. Magoodhoo Reclamation Project Signed Over.

F.Magoodhoo, an island where the population is slowly being unable to live off their current island, has been made a reclamation project by the government. The contract was awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The contract was signed on the 27th of January, 2022, at a special ceremony held at the Housing Ministry, by Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed and MTCC’s CEO, Managing Director Adam Azim.

With a total value of MVR 206.88M funded under the state budget, a total of 47.8 hectares of land will be reclaimed under the Magoodhoo land reclamation project. Whilst 17.8 hectares of land from this is allotted for the people – the remaining 30.8 hectares will be allotted for the development of an airport. This was mentioned by Magoodhoo Council President, Abdulla Waheed.

This project will also see the implementation of shore protection for the island.
