The First Guests To Greet The Island Of Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll Since Border Re-opening

Guesthouses in local islands were given permit to resume operations on 15th October, which effectively kick started local tourism after a temporary halt due the widespread of coronavirus nationwide. Operations initially commenced with twenty-two guesthouses at six islands. Since then, this network has expanded whereas at present, sixty-one guesthouses have been granted permit to operate at sixteen islands.

Earlier today, the island of Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll welcomed its first guests since the border reopening. The islanders were joined by the Minister of Tourism, His Excellency, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, on the joyous occasion.

Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll is the its capital and close in proximity to Male’ City. It is just 28 kilometers north of Male’ City and is easily accessible via local ferry or speedboat. You will see a diverse industrial sector in the island with factories in place for drying tuna and sea cucumber, workshops for construction of sea vessels as well as a plant of the international soda brand, Coca-Cola Company.

However, only three guesthouses in the island has been granted permit to commence operations as of now.
