Fenaka Takes Up Largest Solar PV Project Developed in Addu City

Fenaka has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Clear Future Synergies Limited of United Arab Emirates to install a 4.5MWp Solar PV system in Addu City.

This establishment will be the first and largest Solar PV systems being developed in an atoll outside the capital region in the Maldives.

Under the scope of the project, Fenaka will be installing a 2MWp Solar PV Battery Storage System in the island of S. Hulhumeedho, in addition to a 2.5 MWp Solar PV installation at Gan International Airport. This system will be strong enough to cover 100% of the airport’s electricity usage, making it the premier airport in the Maldives to be powered entirely by solar energy.

The plants will be operated and maintained by CFS Limited for the next 20 years. Fenaka aims to purchase renewable energy produced by the plant in Hulhumeedhoo island during this time, and further expand solar energy provision to islands and resorts in the vicinity.

This bold initiative by Fenaka is forecasted to result in annual savings of 2.1 million liters of diesel and reduce CO2 emissions by 5500 tonnes if implemented successfully.
