HDC to Build Mosque at Hulhumale’ Phase 2

An agreement was signed between HDC and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to build a mosque in Hulhumale’ phase 2. The agreement was signed on behalf of HDC by their Managing Director, Suhail Ahmed, and on behalf of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs by Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir. The mosque was designed by HDC and it will be built by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The mosque was designed in a way that combats the problems of already existing mosques in the Greater Male’ Area and make it easier for people to attend the mosques in general. One of the major problems is the lack of space, hence, this structure is to be built on a plot of land that is 30,655sq to have a capacity of 1,400 people on the inside, and up to 3000 people with the courtyard. It will also have 139 motorcycle spaces.

The mosque is to be built in the Hiyaa Flats area and provide ease to those living there. It will be a great addition to the neighborhood and reduce the traffic which usually occurs during prayer times, especially during the month of Ramadan.
