VP Inaugurates Project to Upgrade Harbor of Maroshi Island

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the physical works of harbor upgrade project on the island of Maroshi in Shaviyani Atoll.  
 
He did the honors during an official stop on the island during his tour of the atoll.  
 
This project was assigned to Heavy Force Pvt Ltd by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in September of 2021. Since then, machineries and items required for the project have been supplied to the island for site mobilization.  
 
Scope of the project include extending the harbor up to 1300 ft in order to compensate for the current challenges in catering for the demand. A sand-fill 490 m break water will allow for recreational space that will be connected to the mainland with a bridge.  
 
VP shares sentiments for the dire need of this upgrade and hopes that the islanders will have a complete and functional harbor soon. The project is worth MVR 43.3 million.
