Schools in the Maldives are preparing to reopen on January 16, 2022 after a brief mid-term break in the academic year 2021 – 2022. The Ministry of Education has laid down strict rules once again as Covid19 cases are on a surge throughout the country post the recent holiday celebrations.
In a signed circular, schools are now instructed to collect PCR tests from students and staff arriving from abroad before allowing entry inside the school. This test must be done within 3 to 5 days of arrival back to the Maldives. The same is applicable to both students and staff arriving from any local island that is currently placed under monitoring by the Health Protection Agency.
Inside school premises, all students and staff must wear mask without fail and arrangements must be made for hand washing with soap. Staff and students are also to refrain from gathering in groups inside the cafeteria or classrooms.
In line with the safety measures that were initially imposed in the breakout of the global pandemic, everyone must do their part in curbing the spread of the virus. New variants are deemed more dangerous and faster spreading therefore let’s keep our loved ones safe from the ill-effects we have seen not long ago.
